Gear Reduction Calculator
for Output Torque and Speed

Calculate the output speed and torque of a gear reducer with this
Gear Reducer Calculator.

A gear reducer increases torque and decreases speed. A gear
increaser reduces torque and increases speed. This calculator is for
a gear reducer.

Input Torque (in/lbs):
Input Speed (RPM):
Ratio: :1
Fill in input torque, input speed, and ratio to determine output torque
and speed.

To find the output torque and speed of a gear reducer, use these
gear ratio formulas:
Ouput Torque = Input Torque x Ratio of Gear Reduction

Torque is measured in Inch Pounds

Output Speed = Input Speed / Ratio of Gear Reduction

Example: A gear reducer with 1000 in/lbs of input torque, an input
speed of 2000 RPM, and a reduction ratio of 3.5:1 is:

Output Torque = 1000 x 3.5

Output RPM = 2000 / 3.5

Calculated out this gives an output torque of 3,500 in/lbs and an
output speed of 571.4286 RPM. (rounded to the nearest 10,000th)
